Mike
Wittenwyler is the lead attorney in Godfrey & Kahn's
Political Law Group. He regularly advises businesses,
trade associations and other organizations on the law
of politics and government.
Each day, Mike works with clients on campaign finance,
election law, ethics and lobbying regulation, and the
tax regulation of political activities. He also has
provided counsel to candidates for public office on
recounts and to public officials on recall efforts.
After the 2000 census, he was extensively involved in
the redistricting of Wisconsin's congressional and state
legislative districts.
Mike often speaks before seminars organized by businesses
and trade associations and, with a colleague, teaches
"Political Law: Elections, Campaign Finance and
Lobbying" at the University of Wisconsin Law School.
Mike has direct experience with political campaigns
and, prior to law school, worked as a congressional
aide in Washington, D.C. Before joining the Godfrey
& Kahn, he served as campaign manager for U.S. Senator
Russ Feingold's (D-WI) successful 1998 re-election.
In 1995, Mike graduated
with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
with a bachelor's degree in political science and earned
his law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1998.
